Tea Tree has been around for a long time. Aboriginal people in Australia are the first to the scene, using it in herbal medicines and treatments long before Americans started using it in everything from soap to DIY bed bug remedies.
It’s worth noting that Tea Tree comes from a tree’s leaves but it is not the same type of tree that gives us tea leaves like the kind we’re used to drinking.
In America, there has been a return to natural healing arts and along with it an essential oil market has exploded. Some of the oils marketed to us don’t do much more than smell nice but Tea Tree is the real deal. It’s worth the hype.
What does Tea Tree actually do?
It’s antibacterial, antifungal, and has been found to kill certain viruses in the right dosage. (No, you can’t be immune to Covid-19 by drinking it. Also, don’t drink it.)
These properties offer a wide range of uses in topical treatments when you need to preserve something, clean something, and get rid of fungus.
Why we use it:
In hair care, there is constantly the concern of fungal issues. Dandruff and a few other scalp conditions are the result of funguses that can live on the skin in the right environment. Using natural grooming products is a good first step for fighting fungus and bacteria on the surface of your skin but sometimes you need a little boost.
A number of the essential oils and ingredients we use in our natural grooming products are antibacterial or antifungal, but none do it quite as well as Tea Tree.
We want our beard oils, shampoo, conditioner, and other products to not only give you the look you want, but help to heal and protect your body as well.
Where we use it:
Our all natural tea tree & mint shampoo and conditioner utilize Tea Tree to combat dandruff and other scalp conditions that are fungal in nature. It also helps with the shelf life and cleansing ability of these products. We use peppermint and aloe vera as well to further the work started by the tea tree.
On the beard, our tea tree beard oil helps with "beardruff" (beard dandruff) and the peppermint adds a pleasing scent.
As with the oil, our tea tree beard balm utilizes the benefits of tea tree oil for your beard while giving off a pleasant scent with the peppermint and other essential oils involved. Our Tea Tree Beard Balm will also help you maintain more control over your beard to keep it looking sharp.
New Products!
We are releasing a few products this year, including a salt spray and water-based clay. You’ll find Tea Tree in those too. Keep your eyes peeled for those!
Bonus points
Tea Tree doesn’t smell good on it’s own. It’s actually the combination of tea tree with peppermint that most people think of when they say they love the smell of tea tree.
In our products, we always combine tea tree and peppermint so you get that nice, bright scent you’re used to. Don’t worry, we gotchu.
